I used to be a legal assistant and I can assure you that no one like Ben ever worked in any of the firms I was at. If someone would have I might not have hated my job so much, in fact I would have probably begged for all the overtime I could have gotten my hands on. Could you just imagine working for those men at K&A? You would be in a perpetual state of orgasmic bliss. *sigh*
I must say my emotions were all over the place with this book. Besides being in a constant state of arousal (you're welcome honey!) I laughed, I cried, and I once was so mad that I wanted to throw my NOOK off the wall. OK well scratch that last one, the NOOK is expensive. Note to self: Buy the paperback when it comes out so I can have the supreme satisfaction of throwing that instead.
When I sent Joey some of my observations of the book she made a comment to me that it was obvious that my emotions took me for quite a ride and that it was OK as long as I thought that ride was worth it. It definitely was and then some. But that’s what an amazing story teller like Joey does right? They take you completely into the story with them making you feel as though you are living the story yourself. With Joey I’m willing to pay the ticket for that ride every time I hit the “Buy Now” button on my NOOK.

There is no doubt that Ms. Hill is a great weaver of beautiful BDSM stories, yet with Hostile Takeover, part of the Knights of the Board Room series, she surpassed all of my expectations. Marcie's journey to be with the man she loves isn't for the faint of heart, or for anyone who doesn't understand the determination of a woman in love. The intensity of Marcie and Ben's relationship has so many elements that suck you in and never let you go. The sex and BDSM play was so emotional and honest that I felt the deep bond between Marcie and Ben, because of understanding so much background about this relationship. Hostile Takeover by Ms. Hill deserves a JERR Gold Star Award not only for the awesome story line, but for telling Ben and Marcie's story in a way that will never be forgotten.

Read this book!
I’ve never before started a review in such a direct manner, but Hostile Takeover is not a book you want to risk missing. At three-thirty this morning, I read the last sentence of the last page, took a deep breath, and immediately moved the book from the My Library folder on my laptop, where I store literally hundreds of e-books, to my All Time Favorites folder that has fewer than twenty. Hostile Takeover is a book I know that I will reread again and again, and has joined the ranks of my very favorite BDSM books.
Joey W Hill has written a book, not a novella or short novel, but an extremely well planned and developed, 263 page book. Plot, setting, characters, language, flow, continuity and the myriad of this and that’s that need to meld to make words on a page come alive in your mind and heart, are on-point in this heart wrenching love story. It is the love story of a man and a woman, a Master and slave. And it is much, much more: the love of family, linked not by blood but by choice, husbands and wives, women lovingly supporting one another through times of wonderful happiness and great sadness, and men offering tough-love to one of their own.
What makes Hostile Takeover so good? I think it may have to do with the careful attention to detail and continuity with all the characters of the series as well as the skillful overlapping of the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of those characters. The BDSM scenes are on target and as erotic as any I have read, and the non-BDSM sexual encounters were beautiful enough to bring tears to my eyes. And to be honest, there were several other situations that also made me cry.
Just as with other books in the Knights of the Boardroom series, the BDSM that takes place in this story is not gratuitous, it moves the plot, it helps the reader understand the characters, and the aftercare from a BDSM scene gives the characters the opportunity to connect in a most powerful manner.
I can only finish as I started, letting you know that I believe Hostile Takeover to be an outstanding book of an outstanding series. If you love romance, if you are part of the BDSM lifestyle or dream you could live in the world of BDSM, or if you just yearn for a really good book, buy a copy of Joey W Hill’s latest book, Hostile Takeover.

Hostile Takeover is the fifth book in the Knights of the Board Room series. It can be read as a stand alone story, but get ready to buy the first four after reading it!
Ben is a hard nosed lawyer with a troubled past. He knows that his desires are extreme and never expects to meet one woman who can match him like the others have. I love the way that Ben is depicted as we learn about his past and where he stands. He isn’t perfect, he makes a few mistakes that have devastating consequences. But, all that makes the story even more enjoyable.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a story where the characters and the plot have a lot of depth and emotion. Hostile Takeover is one story that will be read again and again. The realistic characters and depth of emotions will have you reading passages more than once as you feel each emotion yourself.

After reading the first couple of pages of the fifth book in the Knights of the Boardroom series, Hostile Takeover, by Joey W. Hill, I knew where the title came from. Ben and Marcie are extremely well written characters that are very easy to connect to.
Ms. Hill just has this uncanny ability to make her characters jump of the pages and into my heart every time I read one of her books. She is able to get my emotions to the forefront and stay there through the entire book. I haven't read any of the other books in the Knights of the Boardroom series yet, but I'm going to change that real soon. Hostile Takeover is a page turner with a lot of hardcore sex scenes that will have you taking a cold shower more than once during the story. This was a fantastic book.

I did not expect such an emotional read with this story. I was excited and knew I would have an enjoyable read, but the depth of the emotions took me by surprise.
As extreme of a Dom that Ben is, you cannot do anything but love him. He has gone through so much and has lost the most. Yet we see how caring and devoted that he is. Now, if only Ben himself could see the worth in him. Marcie has always seen that worth in Ben and has grown into a strong and brave woman who will fight to the death to prove it to Ben. The attraction between the two is there from the start and it is a beautiful thing to watch grow into so much more as the book progresses. Making this not only a very hot read but a wonderful romance as well.
If you are a fan of this series this is a must read...if you have not read this series, you really should pick them up. Each and every book brings us a wonderful and emotional connection between the couple . I truly enjoyed this read and hope that this is not the last that we get to see of these men and there wonderful subs.

This is my second book in the Knights of the Boardroom series, and I'm even more impressed than I was the first time. The depth of emotions in these books are amazing. I've only read a handful of BDSM novels, but I've noticed that each one is less about the sex being performed (which is usually pretty extreme) and more about a Master breaking a submissive down to their core elements, then rebuilding them into a strong, confident person. In this story, Ben isn't the one chasing Marcie, he's the one being pursued. This story was intense because both people had to overcome nearly impossible odds in order to pursue a relationship, and you watched as both of them bloomed into the people they were meant to be. I know some people think it's just about causing pain on others, but I'd tell those people to give this book a try, and see that it's so much more than you expected. Like I said, I've only read a handful of these stories, but the stories always stay with me for weeks after I read them. I have a feeling this one will stay with me for a long time, and that is the sign of a truly talented author.

The fifth and last book of the Knight of the Boardroom series is very emotional and, in some ways, disturbing. Hostile Takeover is about a hardcore Dominant that prefers to take things to the extreme, though Ben makes sure that the submissive he is mastering is the kind that can take what he dishes out. That being said, those that have not been around the BDSM lifestyle will find this book emotionally disturbing because some scenes seem very harsh.
The emotional turmoil that Ben goes through after one particular incident makes Ben very human and you really want things to turn out right; you get the impression it may not. Ms. Hill definitely did a lot of research to make sure the scenes and lifestyle issues were correct. I have to give her kudos for this entire series. All the couples show up in this book and of course, there is the trademark scene at the end with all the partners. There is also one scene with all the female characters that is beautifully written.
Marcie is a very strong woman that knows what she wants, though she does show a vulnerability that I found endearing. The author shows the emotional turmoil that someone might expect of a woman just coming into her own as she tries to win her man. Be aware that some scenes in this book can trigger very strong emotions, especially for those that might have been abused, but they are realistic in their creation within this type of lifestyle.
I will be reading this series again and think that the Knights of the Boardroom series should be on every BDSM lovers bookshelf.
